Update

Having started this blog, Jeremy now seems to have lost interest, so I thought I'd chuck in my tuppenceworth.
We won a cup match!! Last week, in the Minor knock out, we slaughtered Downend 3.5 - 2.5, and will now play Horfield (away again!) in the next round, which is also the quarter final.
The clubs first ever season in divison 2 has got off to a rather shaky start (played 2, lost 2),but are we downhearted? Answers on a postcard please...
The B team also lost their first game of the season, but the good news is we've got the away trip to Nailsea out of the way! Next up is Horfield D, or possibly Harambee, as I may call the Horfield match off again, due to a lack of players.
If I remember, I'll put something else on here, perhaps before the end of the season...

I remembered! Well, we're about three quarters of the way through the season, and both teams stand proudly in the relegation zone of their respective divisions. But all is not lost! The A team have picked up some points recently, are off the bottom, and have the next club up (can't remember who it is at the moment), firmly in their sights. The B team have won only one match all season, but are now in a run of home matches, and have high(ish) hopes. We really do NOT want to be playing in division 5 next season...
We lost to Horfield in the Minor knockout, and went down by the narrowest of margins to Clevedon in the Major one. The score was 4-4and we lost on board count by one point!

The season has now ended, as seasons will. Jeremy told me towards the end of the season, that he didn't really mind the A team being relegated, but he didn't want to finish bottom. So we pulled out all the stops and finished second bottom on game points. Does that count as a success?
The B team dug Peter McAfee out from behind his post office counter, dusted him off and stuck him on board 1 for the last 5 matches of the season. We won 4 and drew 1, thereby finishing 3rd bottom, and securing our place in division 4 for next season. Of course, it's not certain that there will actually be a division 5, but never mind. If there is, we won't be in it!! So, with September in mind, we're girding up our loins, we have our noses to the grindstone, shoulders to the wheel, backs to the wall, both feet on the ground, heads held high and arms a-kimbo! It's not comfortable...
